Martin Klingst, the Political Editor for DIE ZEIT, will deliver a talk entitled "Germany's Pending Reforms" within historic Adolphus Busch Hall at Harvard's Center for European Studies. He will address issues surrounding the reformation of pensions, health care, education, and the changing of the federal system. With the social and political future of Germany hinging on these pending reforms, Mr. Klingst will explore the coming change in detail. The talk will be followed by a small reception. Martin Klingst was born in 1955. Since 1999 he has been the Senior Political Editor and the head of the politics department for the German national weekly newspaper, DIE ZEIT. Previously, Klingst studied law in Freiburg, Geneva, Hamburg, and Berlin and taught constitutional law at the Hamburg Law School. Since 1987, he has worked for different newspapers as well as for the North German Television and Broadcasting Corporation. Since the beginning of his career as a journalist, he has covered both domestic and foreign affairs. He has written about the reform process, immigration and constitutional problems, the Balkan wars, Indian riots, and the fight against juvenile delinquency in Europe. Additionally, he has reported on the US Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Israel, and the Constitutional Court of South Africa. In July, 2007 he will move to Washington DC to become DIE ZEIT's US correspondent. |
