Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday – Fastnachtsdienstag
Tuesday, Mar 5, 2019
Call it what you like, it was time to celebrate Karneval, Fasching, Fastnacht! After last year’s smashing success of our Rosenmontag festivities, we switched gears and moved it to Tuesday, where Mardi Gras met Fastnachtdienstag! Helau and Let the Good Times Roll!
Plenty of Jecken and Närrinen came to experience this merry “Fifth Season” as it is referred to in Germany’s Karneval capitals of Köln, Düsseldorf and Mainz. Here in Boston, we brought the tradition and atmosphere of celebrating before the lent season starts to The Point, this wonderful casual pub in the middle of historic downtown Boston, where we had our private room to celebrate, sing, dance, and of course, do a Polonaise! The Karneval playlist was on, Kölsch beer on tap and the Luftschlangen made it all pretty real, but the real stars of the evening were our guests — in costume or not (we helped fix that with a few accessories!), they all had fun!
